Will 5-star QB Jared Curtis commit sooner than later?
RECRUITING FOOTBALL

The quarterback is often the cornerstone of a recruiting class. Landing a top QB early provides teams with a significant advantage, as they can help attract elite talent, particularly on offense. As you probably already know, Oregon is in the top two for No. 1-ranked QB Jared Curtis, but his recruitment may not last until his scheduled June official visits.
On3 National Recruiting Expert Steve Wiltfong talked about Jared Curtis on the On3 Recruits YouTube channel, and when asked what the chances are that Curtis commits before his official visits, he said, "I think it's strong." He continued, "He's got all the information that he needs, now it's just a matter of finding the one, making sure it's right, and then announcing his plans."
It would make a lot of sense for Jared Curtis to commit sooner rather than later. He has spring visits scheduled to Oregon from March 9-12 and Georgia from March 13-16. I still fully expect him to take those, but I also believe he will end up committing shortly after so he can start helping build one of the best recruiting classes in the country. I highly doubt this recruitment makes it to June—I bet we see a commitment in late March or April.
Ever since Curtis decommitted from Georgia, Oregon has been the team to beat. Even while Jonas Williams was committed, Curtis remained the Ducks' No. 1 target at the position, which I believe played a big role in Williams flipping to USC. As of today, I still think Oregon is in the lead. Georgia is obviously still in the mix, but Oregon has been ahead since his decommitment, and I think it will be tough for the Bulldogs to win out.
If Oregon were to miss out on Jared Curtis, where would they pivot? The most obvious answer would be to increase their efforts to land 5-star Ryder Lyons. As we've said countless times, Lyons is taking a one-year mission, making him essentially a 2027 recruit. So even if Oregon lands him but misses on Curtis, they would likely still sign another true 2026 prospect. Some names to watch include 5-star Keisean Henderson and 4-stars Brady Smigiel and Luke Fahey. Hopefully, this scenario doesn’t come into play, but for now, Oregon is in a strong position for Jared Curtis, with potentially only one or two months left in his recruitment.
