Where does Oregon stand with Andrew Olesh?

RECRUITING FOOTBALL

It's no secret that Oregon wants to sign two tight ends in this class. Originally, Oregon secured a commitment from Da'Saahn Brame, but he then flipped to Tennessee, and Oregon ended up landing Vander Ploog. After that, all eyes were on Linkon Cure. We all know the story with him. Now, Oregon is putting the full-court press on Andrew Olesh.

When is he announcing?

Andrew Olesh is set to announce today at 12:00pm PST. He will be choosing between Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State.

This recruitment is really close. Oregon knew Cure sticking with K-State was an option so they brought Olesh out the same weekend for an official visit. As of right now, Oregon and Michigan are neck and neck with Penn State trailing third. I was more confident yesterday than I am today, but Oregon still has a good chance to win out. If I had to give my confidence level in all three schools, I would say 45% Oregon, 45% Michigan, and 10% Penn State. Again, I wish I had a more clear answer.

What if Oregon misses out?

If Olesh signs elsewhere, Oregon will have to go into the portal for at least one, maybe two, tight ends. Ferguson and Herbert are both leaving, so that leaves Sadiq as the only one with playing experience. I'd imagine Oregon will try to get a proven and experienced tight end in the portal, regardless of whether Olesh signs here or not.

Where does Olesh rank?

Olesh ranks #43 overall on On3, #47 on 247, #79 on ESPN, and #163 on Rivals. His 247Sports composite ranking is #59 overall.
