The Latest In Oregon Recruiting 3/17

RECRUITING FOOTBALL

3/18/20252 min read

Oregon just hosted a very very strong recruiting week/weekend and that will be the main focus of this update as well as a few other big ones. Let's get into it.

5-star LB Tyler Atkinson

Out of all the visitors, Oregon made the biggest move with Atkinson. In my last update on him, I said Oregon needed to get him to campus. They did just that, and I'm told this visit catapulted the Ducks into the thick of this recruitment. It will still be hard to beat the in-state Bulldogs, but Oregon cemented itself as a legitimate threat and is probably inside his top three now.

5-star WR Chris Henry Jr

This visit was primarily to check out Oregon's new WR coach, Ross Douglas, in person. I was told the staff is taking a similar approach to this recruitment as they did with Na'eem Offord last cycle. It will be a slow process, but they believe they have a shot to flip him on signing day. As of now, Ohio State should still feel solid.

4-star WR Jalen Lott

Coming out of this visit, there has been a good amount of buzz around Oregon for Lott. On top of that, recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for him to land with the Ducks. Oregon is expected to get the last official visit from him on June 20, but Texas and LSU are still in the mix.

4-star OLB Talanoa Ili

USC has seriously picked things up in this recruitment over the past two weeks, but after this visit, things have calmed down a bit. Going into the visit, USC might have actually been the team with the momentum, but coming out of it, Oregon seems to have regained some of its previous momentum. There's still some time left in this recruitment, but USC is not making it easy for Oregon.

4-star DL Tomuhini Topui (commit)

Topui is another recruit that USC is making serious strides for. He's still committed to Oregon, but it wouldn't be surprising if he eventually flipped to the Trojans. It was important for him to make it back to campus last week, especially after taking back-to-back trips to USC. Coming out of the visit, the Ducks helped themselves a little, but I was told that USC is still a significant threat to flip him. However, nothing seems imminent.

4-star EDGE Derek Colman-Brusa

He visited UW and Oregon back to back but the Ducks are still the team leading the pack. Nothing much more to add here, not expecting him to commit until after his OV's.

Quick Notes

  • USC has made up significant ground with 4-star DB Davon Benjamin, still give Oregon the edge though.

  • Newly offered 4-star LB Calvin Thomas tells me he is planning to visit Oregon, but no date is set yet.

  • 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley tells me he will definitely be back to Oregon but is not sure when yet.

  • 4-star SAF Nasir McCoy tells me he plans to visit Oregon "soon."

  • Oregon is not recruiting 4-star SAF Salesi Moa as hard as other targets.

  • High 3-star IMG Academy DL Cameron Brickle tells me he is planning to visit Oregon at some point.
