Oregon's recruiting efforts have been strong this cycle, but they are facing a new challenge this weekend. Brandon Finney, a 6'2", 185-pound defensive back from Maryland who has been committed to Oregon since June 25th, is set to take a surprise visit to Michigan according to On3. The visit comes as the Wolverines prepare to host Texas in a marquee non-conference showdown, a game sure to generate plenty of buzz and a prime recruiting atmosphere in Ann Arbor.
Finney’s decision to explore his options at Michigan is a bit unexpected. The first time around Oregon beat out Penn State for his commitment but now it looks like they will have to hold off Michigan as well.
Michigan has proven to be a formidable force on the recruiting trail, and the Wolverines have the benefit of proximity. As a Maryland native, Finney's visit to Ann Arbor cuts down on travel time compared to a cross-country trek to Eugene.
Finney is one of the more physically gifted players in the 2025 class. He has elite speed, size, and length and has been rocketing up all the recruiting rankings recently. Finney is definitely someone the staff wants to keep badly.
Right now there is no reason to worry about Finney flipping his commitment, but this visit is a sign that he is still exploring some other options.
