12. Jack Layne: Idaho
Layne is an Oregon native and will get to go up against the ducks. He appeared in 8 games last season but in his only start, he went 20-26 with 275 yards and 6 TDs against Idaho State.
11. Gevani McCoy: Oregon State
McCoy was actually Idaho's starting QB last season. Unfortunately for him, he will have to go up against one of the best teams in CFB. He ran the ball 88 times last season but for only 188 yards. Gabbari Johnson is also a candidate to start but I think McCoy gets the nod. Neither are very good.
10. MJ Morris: Maryland
MJ Morris transferred in from NC State. He showed some promise but is still very unproven. Last season he went 63-118 for 719 yards, 7 TDs, and 5 INTs. Maryland has a QB battle ahead of them after Taulia went pro but I think Morris gets the nod.
9. Malachi Nelson: Boise State
Nelson is the biggest mystery on this list. He's a former 5-Star that transferred out of USC. He has tons of potential but hasn't been given an opportunity yet.
8. Alex Orji: Michigan
In the snaps I've seen Orji take, he's looked awful. He can run but he is still a very unproven passer. I almost put him even lower on this list but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
7. Tyler Van Dyke: Wisconsin
Dyke was really bad at Miami. Last season he went 219-333 with 2703 yards, 19 TDs, and 12 INTs. Part of that could be Mario's system but regardless I have him as the 7th best QB on this list.
6. Luke Altmyer: Illinois
As I'm making this list, I'm realizing that Oregon doesn't play any really good QBs this season. 7-4 could be in any order and I wouldn't complain. Altmyer is a solid QB with rushing upside but he shouldn't cause any concern for Oregon.
5. Hudson Card: Purdue
Card was actually a prime candidate to replace Bo Nix if he went pro early. Last year he did not do too well. He threw 15 TDs with 8 INTs. Regardless, due to the weak QB play Oregon will face, he will be at number 5.
4. Ethan Garbers: UCLA
Garbers is another one of those QBs that just isn't great but is going to be pretty high on this list because of the weak QB's Oregon plays. He didn't play every game last season but he threw 11 TDs compared to only 3 INTs. He has experience but Oregon won't be too concerned about playing him.
3. Aidan Chiles: Michigan State
Chiles transferred in from Oregon State and he is poised to start right away. He looked great at Oregon state but only got a few reps. With those reps, he secured 4 TDs and 0 INTs while throwing for 309 yards. He has all the potential in the world so by the end of the season he could be number 1 on this list. But for now, he does not have the production.
2. Will Rogers: Washington
Rogers had phenomenal seasons in 2021 and 2022, but last season he only got to play five games due to injury. His stats are definitely inflated a little due to Mississippi States air raid offense, but regardless he is actually a pretty decent QB.
1. Will Howard: Ohio State
I give Howard the slightest of edges in this one. He is an underrated runner which is why I gave him the edge. Howard had a solid season last year but it wasn't anything crazy. He went 219-357 with 2643 yards, 24 TDs and 10 INTs while also rushing for 351 yards and another 9 TDs. Regardless of who's number 1 on this list, I'm sure Oregon's just happy this years group of QBs is significantly worse than last season.
