Oregon's linebacker recruiting hasn’t quite gone as planned this cycle. Targets like Noah Mikhail and Keylan Moses have committed elsewhere, leaving a gap that the Ducks are looking to fill. However, a new name has emerged on the radar, and he’s scheduled to make two visits to Eugene in the coming months.
2025 linebacker McKay Madsen has confirmed he will be visiting Oregon twice this season. The first visit will be for the highly anticipated matchup against Ohio State, followed by another visit when the Ducks take on Washington. This double opportunity will give Oregon a chance to potentially put themselves in position to land his commitment.
Madsen, a 3-star prospect from Clovis, California, earned his offer from Oregon after a standout performance at Saturday Night Live a few months ago. Standing 6'2 and weighing 220 pounds, Madsen is ranked #482 nationally according to 247Sports composite rankings.
If Oregon decides to intensify its pursuit of Madsen, the Ducks could be tough competition for other programs. Madsen currently holds about 18 offers, including from Washington, BYU, UCLA, and Arizona. He has already visited UCLA and BYU, but Oregon’s opportunity to host him twice this season could be pivotal.
247Sports' Greg Biggins describes Madsen as "one of the freakier athletes in the 2025 class," noting his exceptional athleticism. Madsen, who can play both linebacker and running back, showcased impressive metrics at the SoCal Under Armour Next camp, including some of the fastest 40-yard dash times and highest vertical jumps.
Oregon is going to sign at least one linebacker in this class, and McKay Madsen could very well be a key addition come December. The Ducks are also continuing to recruit other linebacker prospects like Noah Mikhail and Luke Metz. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
