One of the best west coast edge rushers has locked in his OV with Oregon

RECRUITING FOOTBALL

Oregon has built a strong reputation for recruiting edge rushers in recent years, landing several top tier players at the position. The Ducks have signed 5-stars Matayo Uiagalelei and Elijah Rushing and 4-stars like Blake Purchase, Teitum Tuioti, Tobi Haastrup, Matthew Johnson, and Nasir Wyatt. With 2026 recruiting heating up, Oregon will look to continue that success. Although 5-star Zion Elee may no longer be an option for Oregon, there are still plenty of talented edge rushers out there, and one of them has just locked in his official visit to the Ducks.

High 4-star edge rusher Derek Colman-Brusa has confirmed that he plans to take his official visit to Oregon in the third week of June, likely around June 20th. Colman-Brusa, a 6'4, 230-pounder from Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, Washington, has already visited Oregon multiple times and is now making plans to return for a closer look this summer.

Colman-Brusa is currently ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Washington and has an impressive list of suitors. With at least 17 offers on the table, Ohio State, Washington, and Oregon are among the schools recruiting him the hardest. In addition to his Oregon official visit, he has visits lined up to Washington on May 6th, UCLA on May 16th, USC on June 6th, and Ohio State on June 13th, according to his 247Sports profile. This means Oregon could get the final official visit before Colman-Brusa makes his decision.

According to 247Sports' Brandon Huffman, Colman-Brusa "Has a chance to be the top overall player in the NW region for the ’26 class. Very productive sophomore season with 75 tackles, 19 for loss and 14 sacks. Wrestling background and finished 5th in the state at 215 pound weight division. Tape pops and he shows natural pass rush ability. Can play edge and inside and wins with quickness at the line- either with a blow by off the edge or little outside-in move. Super strong hands, can rag doll opposing linemen, changes direction and has some flexibility to him. He’s not just a straight line guy but shows balance and power and closes really well on the football. Naturally strong kid with a crazy motor. High major Power 4 prospect and NFL upside to him."

247Sports ranks Colman-Brusa higher than the other recruiting services, coming in at #139 nationally. ESPN places him at #205, On3 at #227, and Rivals has him as a 4-star. With Zion Elee no longer in the picture, Colman-Brusa seems to be one of Oregon's top targets at the edge rusher position. I give Oregon the edge in this recruitment right now, but these official visits will be super important.
