The state of Idaho has been good to Oregon recently, with 5-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair signing with the Ducks in the 2024 recruiting class. Bair is set to join the team after the 2025 season, but Oregon is now targeting another standout player from the Gem State. That player will be in town next weekend for another visit to the ducks.

3-star offensive lineman Jax Tanner will visit Oregon on January 25th for Junior Day, he tells me. Tanner, a 6'4, 275 pound interior offensive lineman, is the #2 ranked player in the state of Idaho. This won’t be his first trip to Eugene, as he previously visited last November and September, making this his third visit in just a few months.

Tanner has already received at least 16 scholarship offers from programs like Tennessee, Boise State, Michigan, and Oregon. Recently, numerous teams have stopped by to check in on him, including BYU, Tennessee, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Utah, Michigan, and Stanford. Despite all this attention, Tanner will head west this weekend to see what the Ducks have to offer yet again.

According to his 247Sports scouting report, Tanner was named the 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year in Idaho. He also allowed zero sacks all season and recorded an incredible 115 pancake blocks, which is an incredible stat for any offensive lineman. Tanner’s talents extend beyond football, as he also competes in track and field, excelling in shot put and discus.

Tanner is rated as a 3-star prospect with an 88 grade by 247Sports. Rivals also lists him as a 3-star with a 5.7 rating, while On3 and ESPN have yet to rank him. Though he may not be a blue-chip recruit yet, Oregon clearly sees his potential and has made him a priority. With this being his third visit to Eugene in the past four months, Oregon seems to be in a strong position in his recruitment. This weekend will be another opportunity for the Ducks to leave a big impression on him.
