One of the best players in Texas is making his way to Eugene this weekend, continuing Oregon's strong recruiting push in the Lone Star State. Over the past few years, the Ducks have had major success in Texas, landing some of the state's top talent. Last cycle, Oregon signed the No. 1 player in Texas, five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore. They also secured commitments from high four-star cornerback Dorian Brew and four-star edge rusher Tobi Haastrup. In the 2024 cycle, Oregon went into Texas and landed four-star safety Aaron Flowers. Now, in 2026, the Ducks are once again making the state a priority, with elite four-star running back Tradarian Ball already committed. This weekend, another one of Texas' best will be in town.
Elite four-star athlete Jalen Lott has confirmed that he will be visiting Oregon this weekend. Lott, a dynamic 6-foot, 170-pound playmaker from Panther Creek High School in Frisco, Texas, is one of the Ducks' top targets in the 2026 class. With nearly 50 offers to his name, Lott is one of the most sought-after prospects in the country. Oregon has made him a priority, and this visit will be a key step in their recruitment of the talented Texan.
While Lott is listed as an athlete, Oregon is recruiting him as a wide receiver. The Ducks are among his top schools, and could even have the lead right now. Texas is widely viewed as Oregon’s biggest competitor and has long been considered the favorite. However, the Longhorns are recruiting Lott as a cornerback, while Oregon sees him as a receiver. If Lott prefers to play on the offensive side of the ball, this could work in Oregon’s favor.
Beyond positional preference, Texas has strong personal ties with Lott. Both of his parents attended Texas, with his father playing cornerback for the Longhorns and his mother playing basketball. Oregon will have to overcome those deep connections if they hope to land Lott, but they’ve done it before. The Ducks managed to land Dakorien Moore over Texas last cycle, proving they can go head-to-head with them against elite in-state talent. Lott is also expected to take an official visit to Oregon in June, giving the Ducks another chance to land him.
Lott is a consensus top-10 player from Texas, with his highest national ranking coming from Rivals, where he is listed at No. 49. He also checks in at No. 60 on 247Sports, No. 102 on ESPN, and No. 174 on On3. He previously visited Oregon in October and has now scheduled a return trip to Eugene. Oregon is making a strong push, but Texas has home-field advantage. This will be a battle to watch closely in the days ahead.
