Oregon's 2025 recruiting class is shaping up nicely, with 15 commits already in the fold and one of the highest average ratings per commit in the cycle. This talented group is poised to add more firepower in the coming months, and one of their current commits has just confirmed his plans to take a return visit in the future.
2025 4-star defensive lineman Matthew Johnson confirmed that he plans to take his official visit to Oregon on November 30th, when the Ducks face off against their rival, Washington. This visit will give him one last look at the team before he puts pen to paper.
Standing at 6'5" and 260 pounds, Johnson has been committed to Oregon since February. Unlike many recruits, Johnson has not been taking visits to other schools since pledging to the Ducks. This seems to show that he is locked in with Oregon.
Johnson hails from De La Salle High School in California, a program known for producing top-tier talent. Oregon’s defensive coordinator, Tosh Lupoi, also played high school football at De La Salle, which has established strong ties between the school and the Ducks. This connection likely played a pivotal role in securing Johnson's commitment.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is listed as a 4-star prospect, ranking as the No. 289 overall player in the 2025 class. He is highly regarded by both 247Sports and On3. 247 ranks him as the 210th best recruit while On3 has him as the 205th best.
