A New 2026 Target is Emerging for Oregon Down the Stretch

RECRUITING FOOTBALL

Early signing day is approaching, and Oregon is looking to add to its class. While most recruits sign during the early period, not everyone does. I’ve confirmed that Oregon is in contact with an uncommitted 2026 prospect. This could be a late-cycle name to watch as the Ducks look to finish strong.

I’ve confirmed that Oregon is in communication with 2026 three-star ATH Aveon Williams. Williams is a 6-foot-6, 245-pound TE/DE from Casa Grande, Arizona. He originally committed to North Carolina on June 15th after his official visit, but recently backed off that pledge on November 20th. Now, Oregon is a school to watch as his recruitment reopens down the stretch.

Williams is listed as an athlete, but he tells me Oregon is recruiting him as both a tight end and a defensive end. Oregon is not the only school in pursuit, as he says Minnesota, UNLV, and Sacramento State are also coming after him. He has already taken an official visit to UNLV back in June. He also confirmed he will not be an early graduate, which means he will not sign during the early period that begins Wednesday. Instead, he is planning to make his final decision sometime in the middle to end of December.

Aveon Williams is ranked as a high three-star prospect with an 89 rating, according to On3/Rivals. Below is Rivals analyst Greg Biggins’ scouting report on Williams:

"Williams is a fast rising athlete who shows the ability to play tight end or defensive line at the next level. He was getting looks on both sides of the ball and committed as a tight end but we actually think he has more long term upside on defense. Williams has a massive frame and uses his size and strength to bully opposing players on both sides of the ball. Uses his big body to carve out separation and wins a ton of 50-50 balls. Has strong hands and despite not being super elusive, runs well after the catch because of his size and is tough to bring down in the open field. He’s a natural athlete with a hoops background and when you combine all his raw traits and skill set, along with the frame, there’s a lot to get excited about."
