RECRUITING FOOTBALL

Oregon's 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in the country, currently ranked inside the top three on every major recruiting site. But the Ducks aren’t done yet. While 4-star linebacker McKay Madsen is still weighing his options, a new blue-chip prospect has emerged as a potential target for the 2025 class.

The Ducks have been in good communication with 4-star offensive tackle Chaston Brown over the past few weeks. You can never have too many offensive lineman, and landing Brown would provide crucial depth at the tackle position. I recently reached out to Brown, and he told me that he is going to "try" and visit Oregon before his decision.

Chaston Brown, who is from Warner Robins, Georgia, initially committed to UCF but reopened his recruitment after Gus Malzahn left for Florida State. Since then, Brown has received offers from Arkansas, Missouri, FSU, and Vanderbilt, among others. If Oregon gets him on campus, they could be tough to beat.

In addition to football, Brown also plays basketball. His varsity football career began in 2023 when he started at left tackle for Northside High School. Listed at 6'7 and 270 pounds, Brown has the height and frame to excel at the collegiate level, though he’ll need to add more weight.

Brown is ranked as a 4-star recruit and #226 in the Top247. His composite ranking places him at 4-stars and #351 overall. Distance obviously isn't on Oregon's side here, but if they can get him on campus, watch out.

247 Scouting Report

"One of the country's most physically impressive offensive tackles at this stage of the evaluation process. Played his first season of high school football in the Fall of 2023, and his body composition reflects as much hovering around a shade over 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds. Will need time to gain requisite mass in a collegiate strength and conditioning program but should not have any issues stacking positive weight considering his massive proportions including elite wingspan and arm length measurables. Displays impressive reactive quickness and promising hand usage, which could be explained by his AAU basketball background. Must address current issues anchoring against bigger-bodied front seven defenders along with becoming a more natural mover in the run game. A true lottery ticket left tackle prospect who will need time to develop, but could offer one of the biggest returns on investment in the 2025 recruiting cycle."
