5-star Oregon Target Wants to Commit During Visit

RECRUITING FOOTBALL

Oregon's 2026 offensive line class has the potential to be the best in the nation. The Ducks already boast a commitment from 5-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene in the 2026 class, but the staff wants to pair him with another elite tackle prospect. And one of the Ducks' other 5-star offensive tackle targets interestingly wants to commit during one of his visits.

5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho has official visits lined up to Maryland, Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, and Oregon, but according to Rivals' Adam Gorney, he wants to commit while on one of those visits. This might not sound like a big deal, but Oregon is currently set to be the last official visit of his bunch, so they would have to survive visits from the other schools to even get him on campus.

Oregon has been considered the leader for Iheanacho for a few months now, but Gorney says it's Maryland that has the momentum right now. The hometown Terrapins have been creating a lot of buzz on the recruiting trail in 2026, as they've already landed the No. 1 recruit in America, Zion Elee, who was also considered an Oregon lean. Since then, Elee has claimed he shut down his recruitment and is locked in with Maryland. This development seems to have caught Iheanacho's eye, as the Terrapins could be the team to beat now.

This recruitment is far from over, though. If Oregon feels that Iheanacho may commit before making it to campus, best believe they will do everything in their power to stop it. But on the other hand, Oregon is also among the top two, and might lead, for 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell as well. Oregon won't land both Iheanacho and Cantwell, but one is more than possible. If Oregon feels good about getting Cantwell, maybe Iheanacho goes ahead and commits to Maryland while the Ducks dial everything in on Cantwell. Landing either of them would make this offensive line class the best in the nation.

Iheanacho is a consensus 5-star recruit, and according to his 247Sports scouting report, he is "A supremely powerful offensive lineman who wears his verified 6-foot-6.5, 350-pound listing extremely well. Owns some of the longest arms in the 2026 cycle and has better-than-expected lower body explosiveness at his size. Primarily works at offensive tackle, but will likely be limited to the right side or could even slide inside to IOL depending on how his body develops over the next few years. Presents an incredibly difficult problem for opposing front seven defenders to solve thanks to his massive reach and top-tier power in the hands that can flatten well-put-together defensive linemen. Will need to improve his ankle and hip flexibility, but even with some stiffness in his lower half is still athletic enough to dominate on both Friday nights and the offseason camp circuit. Checks multi-sport boxes with skillful basketball tape. Rare elite football prospect that boards at the renowned Georgetown Preparatory School. Somebody defenders look to avoid in the run game, especially at the second level. Could potentially become an immediate impact player for a college football playoff contender in the run game. Should be viewed as an intriguing option at RT or IOL with plenty of long-term NFL Draft upside that pairs nicely with ready to contribute heft."
