Oregon hosted some elite talent this past weekend, and one of those recruits was 5-star 2027 defensive lineman George Toia. Oregon offered him back in August, but this was Toia's first trip to Eugene. I had the opportunity to catch up with him and ask a few questions about his visit.
Question: How did your recent visit go, and what stood out the most to you?
"My visit went great. What stood out the most was the character of the coaches and staff; they make everyone around them feel welcomed."
Question: Which coaches did you spend the most time with, and what was their message?
"I spent the most time with Coach Tuioti, and the message he had for us was to just keep working and to master our craft."
Question: What factors are going to be most important when you make your commitment?
"The factors that will be important to my commitment are the education and how they can improve me and get me better for the next level."
Question: What are your thoughts on Dan Lanning specifically, how was it meeting him?
"Dan Lanning is a great person and a great coach. He is very big on family and culture."
Question: Where does Oregon stand in your recruitment after this visit?
"I'm not going to say too much, but Oregon is up there for me for sure."
